Scale is a production fact, not a verdict
A larger distillery may offer consistency and reach; a smaller one may offer specificity and variation. Neither scale guarantees flavor, honesty, or value.
Ask what scale changes
Larger runs can demand tighter control of raw materials, blending, proofing, and packaging. Smaller runs may reveal seasonal variation or make limited botanicals practical.
Look for transparency
Useful producers explain origin, style, strength, and the broad production approach at any scale. Vague romantic language is not made more credible by scarcity or volume.
Judge consistency and character separately
Consistency answers whether bottles align; character answers what the spirit expresses. A buyer may value one, the other, or both depending on purpose and price.
